Aromatherapy

Clinical Aromatherapy in Infectious Disease
facilitated by Rhiannon Harris
This program takes an in-depth look at common fungal, bacterial and viral infectious diseases and discusses their effective aromatherapy interventions. It does so in the light of evidence-based information, clinical experience and respect for the person’s individual terrain. This degree of detail is important if we are to harness and use the antimicrobial properties of essential oils in a safe, holistic and effective manner.
Class work is a mixture of theoretical content, discussion and group activity.
Comprehensive documentation is provided.
Areas covered include:
General review of infectious disease
How organisms cause disease
The influence of the individual terrain
Terrain and how it is related to dosage of essential oils
The aromatogram
Fungal diseases, their prevalence, key organisms concerned, key features and aromatherapeutic interventions
Bacterial infections, their prevalence, key organisms concerned, key features and aromatherapeutic interventions
Viral diseases, their prevalence, key organisms, key features and aromatherapeutic interventions
Approaches for acute and chronic infectious diseases
Rhiannon Harris is the Editor of the International Journal of Clinical Aromatherapy and co founded Essential Oil Research Consultants along with her husband Bob Harris. In 1997 they moved their base to France to study and work with physicians and pharmacists involved in medical aromatherapy. Here they extended their therapeutic experience of medical aromatherapy and gained a broad, yet precise understanding of the full clinical potential of essential oils.
"Using essential oils in a clinical way requires a combination of knowledge, experience, confidence and innovation. It requires us to have a sound working knowledge of the condition and the tools that we use coupled with the courage to use them in ways that may at times seem outside of our more gentle, holistic approach to working."
This class is intended to introduce how essential oils may be used in acute clinical situations in a safe and effective manner. Infectious diseases are key features of acute states and thus the class takes a research-based and holistic approach to demonstrate how essential oils can be used effectively in these situations.
