Reflexology CPD

Reflexology and the Meridians of the Feet

with Beryl Crane

In most therapies the theory is that imbalances and blockages in energy flow translate into symtoms (physical and emotional).  Regular reflexology treatment incorporating the meridians can help rectify imbalances before a disorder manifests.  The body has an energy field that is very closely related to the musculo-skeletal system.

Beryl Crane teaches pure traditional Reflexology utilising the combination acu-points of the upper and lower limbs, facial points and auricular points.  Manyof these known acupressure points are unknowingly used throughout a treatment.  Many relaxation methods are also utilised.  There are many points that are wonderful during pregnancy for nausea and pain relief when giving birth.  This treatment has also been found to be of great benefit in aiding infertility.

The aim of the workshop is to bring clarity and logic to the understanding of the Chinese energy system known as 'the meridians'.  Both physical and emotional disorders are said to alter the flow of the energy (Qi).  We utilise the Twelve Regular Channels on the upper and lower limbs and Two Extra-ordinary Channels on the face and head.  Any action will stimulate a reflex or an acu-point.  The following implements such as head-pads, light, colour pens, vibrational methods (ultrasound, interferential sound, electrical stimulator), hydrotherapy, essential oils and magnetic therapy, can all be used on acu-points but only if you are qualified to do so and should be used at Post-graduate Level.  Stress is one of the commonest causes of 'dis-ease'.  Our bodies are controlled by our mind on two levels; the conscious and the sub-conscious mind.  Our sub-conscious mind has our best interests at heart.  It is our secret place where memories are stored.  It is said to learn and make associations very quickly.  This is why it needs only one unpleasant experience to affect us.  We were not born with phobia's or addictions.  If we lack self-confidence or suffer low self esteem, depression or weight issues, these are nearly all stress related as we pick up these burdens in our conscious mind as we go through life.

The format for the day will cover:

1.  Looking at the meridians

2.  The relationship of the meridians to each other

3.  Classification of the meridians

4.  Pathways of the meridians

5.  Introducing 5 basic acupressure techniques with reflexology

6. " First Aid at yoru fingertips" hands/feet and lower limbs

7.  The Yuan or Source points included into a Reflexology treatment session

8.  Combination treatments of the hands/feet

9.  Balancing the meridians

10.  Conclusion and review.

This suggested format will allow plenty of time for the practical work, hands-on seems to be the most favourite the world over.  A CPD Certificate for both workshops will equate to 12 CPD points.  Handouts, books and charts can be purchased on the day.
