This one-day workshop is designed for students and practitioners qualified in Massage Therapy, Sports Massage/Therapy and Allied/Complementary/Holistic Therapies.
Massage can be of great benefit when there is injury to the soft tissues of the body i.e. muscles, ligaments and tendons. Under the guidance of a relevantly qualified practitioner and used correctly, massage can reduce swelling (lymphatic drainage) and re-align scar tissue. Massage is used extensively in the rehabilitation of soft tissue injuries
The workshop will cover the following:
Mechanism of Injury Common Injuries to ligaments, tendons and muscles Acute, sub-acute, post acute stages of InjuryElementary Assessment-active, passive and resistedBasic Treatment Principles (RICE)Massage TechniquesSafety & contra-indications
The workshop is largely practical in content and loose, comfortable clothing is advisable. Please bring a large towel, shorts and writing materials.
A certificate of attendance will be provided for this workshop.
