Introduction to Sports Massage

with Glyn Curtis

This one-day workshop is designed for students and practitioners qualified in Massage Therapy, Sports Massage/Therapy and Allied/Complementary/Holistic Therapies.

Sports Massage can be of great benefit to sports people and dancers alike by enhancing training programmes and athletic participation. Sports Massage is used to prepare the athlete for activity, aid recovery after training or involvement in competition and also identifying any minor imbalances or problem areas. Sports Massage can play an important role in keeping soft tissue and muscles in pristine condition.

 

The workshop will cover the following:

History of Sports Massage

Theory of Pre, Post and Maintenance Massage

Massage Technique Strategies

Safety & contra-indications

The workshop is largely practical in content and loose, comfortable clothing is advisable. Please bring a large towel, shorts and writing materials.

A certificate of attendance will be provided for this workshop.
