Hand
Reflexology
The
theme f this workshop is to show that hand Reflexology as a science
is a powerful tool. The student will be shown how we can enable
patients to take part in and help control their own healing process.
During
the workshop, anatomy of the hand and nerve pathways will be examined
and how the nerves are integrated with the meridians, along with
the zonal and meridian connection, Hand observation and diagnosis
will follow, showing how the hands are of the utmost importance
in our touching and sensing abilities.
The
workshop will show how self help Reflexology, by applying pressure
specifically to the hands and lower arm, can be used to balance
the body energies.
The
sequence of the flow of energies is most important and this is found
at the fingertips where the energy is unstable. The presentation
looks at “First aid at your fingertips”, these simple pressures
become a potent therapy which can help many of the disorders of
the body such as any stress related disorders.
The
hand sequence that will be shown at the workshop is not just a massage.
Massage can be completed in 5-6 minutes for each hand and forearm
and only consists of lots of stroking and kneading movements.
Hand
Reflexology is an art, by applying pressure and palpation to specific
points the whole body can benefit. The aim is to stimulate reflexes
and Acu points precisely. Many of these areas respond by increasing
circulation and nerve impulses which rapidly spread the electrical
activity within the membrane from one reflex to another transmitting
the information to the central nervous system which in turn responds
by sending out a response impulse to organs, glands and muscles.
The
Acu points and Source points have been used for thousands of years
and are part of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Recent
hypotheses suggests that any pressure activates deep sensory nerves
which cause the brain to releases endorphins the brain's natural
painkillers, when this occurs the problem and patient is suffering
from is often alleviated. This theory is exactly the same as the
Reflexology theory.
Beryl
aims to use the science and practice of this therapy as a preventative
treatment prior to illness. The involvement of the patient is a
most essential element. She see the Practitioner's role as that
of a harmoniser, healer and educator.
Out
of the 5 senses the sense of touch is one of the most important.
It is this tactile sense, which enables us to contact with our patients.
The hands are a highly developed piece of machinery, a measure of
their importance is reflected by the large area they occupy in the
brain.
